When a loved one passes away, whether at home, in the care of health services, or overseas, it can be hard to determine where to start. A. Cain is here to support families throughout Hayes and the wider area, by offering a complete funeral care service. You can have complete confidence in our team to arrange all the necessary parts that make up a funeral service, allowing you to grieve with your family, and support each other during this challenging period in life.

We have been helping families and friends honour their loved ones since 1902, and as members of SAIF you can count on us to provide a professional, respectful service from start to finish.

Following a bereavement

There are many decisions and practical tasks that often have to be made at a time of great personal distress. We have produced this booklet to help guide you through the first steps following a bereavement. No booklet can cover every set of circumstances therefore please call us on 020 8573 0664, if you require any further assistance.

Once death has occured

Death is usually confirmed by a medical professional

Doctor issues Medical Certicate of Cause of Death

or coroner investigates the death

Registration

Make appointment and bring Medical Certicate of Cause of Death with you

If Coroner involvement, documents will be sent directly on your behalf to the registrar

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral arrangements can be made e.g. dates and times

The body can be released

Informing organisations

There are a number of organisations that need informing after death, e.g. Banks, DWP and local authorities.

Other things to consider

Burial or cremation? We can help you decide on whether a burial or cremation service is the right choice for your loved one.
The type of service. We cater to all faiths, so whether you want the ceremony to be religious, spiritual or non-religious, we'll ensure your wishes are honoured.
Order of service. Our team can discuss how you want the service to proceed, including readings, speeches, music selections and more.
Flowers and donations. We can recommend florists who are specialists in creating beautiful funeral flowers, or discuss alternatives if you prefer. If you would like to arrange a collection for a favourite charity, we can help with this.
